This company is a scam!
We were contacted in and sold an advertisement in Jan 2012 for £2,750 (over US$4,000) - which we foolishly paid!

Today (September 2013) there has been no Parliamentary Yearbook, but there is an inbox filled with excuses as to why it hasn't happened!
I have researched and it appears others have the same problem - some since March 2010. (and it appears they are still contacting people trying to sell more advertisments):
These are excerpts from emails with them:
July 2012
"...The book is in production now but being a large publication, it has a production cycle of some 10 to 12 weeks so it will be distributed early Autumn. You will of course be sent a voucher copy on publication..."July 2012
July 2012
"...Because of Parliamentary activity, there is always the possibility of delay with the publication of the Parliamentary Yearbook … it is for this reason that we never give specific dates for each issue and this is covered in the terms and conditions relating to the contract. Events totally outside our control have resulted in the production of this current issue being considerably later than we would have wished.
I note what you say about your text being out of date but the book is now in production and it is too late for me to withdraw your entry.
August 2013
"... we were well into production when the Prime Minister announced his Government shuffle. This means that, whilst Government policy did not change, many of the editorials were written by, or attributed to, Ministers who were no longer in the posts and were therefore inappropriate. As a result we have had to delay production whilst we sourced new, or updated existing, content. Whilst the publication is regarded as important within Westminster, writing new pieces for the book were not necessarily at the top of new Ministers’ priorities when “getting their feet under new desks” so it has taken rather longer than we expected to get the new content together. However, that is now complete and the book is back in production. We shall be delaying production of the next issue to ensure that the book has a shelf life of a year..."

Shocking Behaviour
ReplyDeleteToday I just experienced the same scam only this time for the British Chamber of Commerce. My business is based in Japan and it did sound appealing. It was only when we started checking that I found this. Beware of anyone from Blake/ Blake Media /TBO. Please spread the word.
ReplyDeleteExecutive Director of the Council of British Chambers of Commerce in Europe (COBCOE) Anne-Marie Martin has informed us that an organisation called Blake Media is approaching member companies of different British Chambers of Commerce in Europe implying that their marketing campaign is commissioned by COBCOE and Eurochambres.
Blake Media is marketing the publications called Business to Business Contacts Guide for Chambers of Commerce Members, Doing Business with the UK - Inward Investment & International Trade Law and various other similar guises targeting specific sectors. Anne-Marie has informed us that COBCOE has not commissioned such publications and is not involved in this in any way. It is a false sales pitch that they are using and you should not be influenced by the promise of involvement by COBCOE or by any of the British Chambers of Commerce in Europe. COBCOE cannot however speak for Eurochambres and its possible involvement with Blake Media.
COBCOE is currently dealing with the issue to ensure that this company does not use the COBCOE brand for marketing of their products. We encourage all our members to check with us first if other companies approach them using the name of COBCOE or the name of any other British Chamber of Commerce.
They did the same to me!

This site is now officially called the Parliamentary Book at: www.parliamentarybook.com on this website they claim to be TBO rather than Blake Media.
ReplyDeleteDiplomaticbook.com is their main one now. TBO and Blake Media are the same people. They are no longer based in Finchley Central. Beware now of people selling inclusion to an exporting app linked to this "Diplomatic Book"
ReplyDeleteTerrible people, they sound like market vendors selling non-existant goods. Don't come near them!!
ReplyDeleteWe reported this to Parliament, Fraud UK and Trading Standards. No one want to do anything to stop them. They scammed about £5,000 out of us in 2014. They are doing it to lots of companies.
